## Step 1: Choose the right portal

## Step 4: Read the result

The portal returns one of: **Valid**, **Expired**, **Cancelled**, **Not Found**. Note the issue date, expiry date and visa type. Take a screenshot for your records — but understand that a screenshot is easy to fake and trivially editable.

## Why "Valid" is not the same as "real"

This is the part most travelers miss. A portal "Valid" status only proves a record exists in the database with those passport details. It does not prove:

-   That the PDF you received corresponds to that record.
-   That the photo, dates or other fields on the PDF were not edited.
-   That the record belongs to you and not to someone else with a similar name.

A tampered PDF that clones a real reference number can pass a portal check and still be useless at the airport check-in.

An independent authenticity report combines the portal status check (above), a structural analysis of the PDF (metadata, layers, fonts, signatures), and a signed verdict you can share. This is the difference between "the database says yes" and "the document in your hand is the real one".

**My visa shows "Not Found" on the portal. Is it fake?**  
Not necessarily — the record may not yet have been updated, especially within the first 24–48 hours after issue. But after that window, "Not Found" is a strong red flag.

**Can I check a UAE visa with only the passport number?**
