# Germany Schengen Visa for UAE Residents

Apply from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or Sharjah — Schengen Type C short-stay (90/180), valid across all 29 Schengen states.

Germany issues more Schengen visas to UAE residents than any country except France — and unlike the French consulate, the German VFS centre often has appointments available the same week. The Type C short-stay visa (90/180) covers tourism, business, and family visits to all 29 Schengen states. eVisas.io prepares your file in line with the German consulate's very specific document standards (which catch out most first-time applicants).

## Where to Submit in the UAE

Operator: VFS Global

Cities: Dubai, Abu Dhabi

The Germany VFS centre in Dubai is in the Wafi Mall area; Abu Dhabi is in Al Mamoura. Slots are usually available 1–2 weeks ahead even in peak season — Germany is the smart pick if your dates are tight. Verify current address on VFS Global before traveling.

### How to book a VFS Global Germany appointment in the UAE

Germany outsources UAE visa submissions to VFS Global, so the consulate never takes walk-ins — every applicant books a biometric appointment through the VFS Global Germany portal for the UAE first. Here is exactly how the booking works and what happens on the day.

1. 1 Create a VFS Global account for Germany (UAE). Register on the VFS Global Germany UAE portal with the email you will use throughout. One account can hold several applicants, which is how families book adjacent slots.
2. 2 Pick the right centre — Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Dubai and Abu Dhabi run separate slot calendars. If Dubai is full, check Abu Dhabi before waiting: residents of any emirate may submit at either centre.
3. 3 Select category: Schengen short stay (Type C). Tourism, business and family-visit trips of up to 90 days in any 180 all fall under Type C. Choosing a national (Type D) category by mistake sends you to a different queue and a different fee.
4. 4 Book the biometric slot. New slots are typically released in the morning, UAE time. Germany usually has availability 1–2 weeks out, but Oktoberfest (September), Christmas markets (December) and the summer holidays tighten it — book 4–6 weeks ahead for those windows.
5. 5 Assemble the file before the slot. The German consulate is strict on insurance cover, proof of accommodation for every night, and bank statements that match the stated trip cost. Missing pages are the most common reason a submission is refused at the counter.
6. 6 Attend, submit, and track. Fingerprints and a photo are captured on site unless you gave biometrics for a Schengen visa in the previous 59 months. You keep your passport only if a courier return is chosen; otherwise it stays until the decision.

#### On the day of your appointment

- Arrive 15 minutes before the slot — VFS centres run to schedule and late arrivals are usually rebooked.
- Bring the original passport plus one photocopy of the bio page; the passport needs at least two blank pages and must be under 10 years old.
- Carry printed documents. Files on a phone are not accepted at the counter.
- Photographs must meet the biometric standard (35x45 mm, light background); the centre can retake them for a fee if yours is rejected.
- Minors need both parents' consent documents; a single-parent applicant needs custody or NOC paperwork.
- Choose SMS tracking or courier return at the counter — this is the only point at which those add-ons can be selected.

#### What you pay at the centre

| Charge | Notes |
| --- | --- |
| Consular Schengen fee | Set by the EU and payable in AED at the counter — confirm the current amount on the VFS portal on booking day. |
| VFS service fee | Charged per applicant on top of the consular fee. |
| Optional add-ons | Courier return, SMS tracking, premium lounge and photo services are each priced separately. |
| eVisas.io file preparation | Document review, form completion and appointment guidance — quoted transparently before you pay. |

Fees are set by the consulate and VFS Global and change periodically — always confirm the current amounts on the official portal before your appointment.

### Best Season

May–September for the long days, biergartens, and Alpine hiking. December is magical for Christmas markets but cold (often -5°C, a shock for UAE residents).

### Peak — Book Early

September (Oktoberfest in Munich), December (Christmas markets), and June–August school holidays — book 4–6 weeks ahead.

## Local Tips for UAE Residents

Carry cash. Germany is unusually cash-heavy by Western European standards — many bakeries, taxis, and small restaurants still refuse cards.

Halal options are strongest in Berlin (Kreuzberg, Neukölln) and Frankfurt; Munich is more limited outside the city centre.

Deutsche Bahn (DB) tickets are 30–40% cheaper if booked 14+ days ahead via the DB Navigator app.

EU plug type F — same as the UAE in shape but verify your charger handles 230V.

Tap water is safe and free — Germans rarely tip if served tap, so don't feel obligated.

For winter trips, pack a real coat — the UAE-style "winter jacket" will not cope with -5°C.

          "@type": "Answer",
"text": "No. The €4,000 average balance over the last 6 months is an eligibility indicator, not a legal requirement under the EU Visa Code. Schengen consulates assess your financial sufficiency holistically: they look at salary credits, transaction patterns, residency stability, and trip cost rather than a fixed minimum number. A healthy, consistent average balance simply strengthens your approval odds because it demonstrates you can fund the trip without working illegally in the Schengen area. Applicants with lower balances can still be approved if other parts of the file (sponsor letter, employer guarantee, prepaid bookings) compensate."

          "@type": "Answer",
"text": "A widely used benchmark is roughly €100 per day of intended stay, on top of pre-paid flights and accommodation — so a 10-day trip should comfortably show €1,000–€1,500 in available funds. More important than the absolute number is the pattern: consistent monthly salary credits, gradual growth, and no large unexplained deposits in the weeks before submission. Sudden lump-sum transfers immediately before applying are a common refusal trigger because consulates view them as artificially inflated balances."

"text": "A requirement is mandatory under EU law or consulate policy — missing it leads to an automatic refusal (for example: valid passport, travel medical insurance with €30,000 coverage, valid UAE residency, confirmed bookings). An eligibility indicator is a factor that strengthens your approval odds but is not, by itself, grounds for refusal — for example a high average bank balance, prior Schengen travel history, stable employment tenure, or property ownership. Knowing the difference helps you focus on closing genuine gaps in your file rather than over-engineering optional signals."
