UAE Visa for GCC Residents — Iqama, QID, Civil ID, CPR & Resident Card Holders
Living in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain or Oman and planning a trip to Dubai? Your residence permit proves where you live, but your passport decides the UAE visa rule. Pick your country of residence below for a guide written in the terms your immigration paperwork actually uses.
Do GCC residents need a UAE visa?
In most cases, yes. A GCC residence permit does not replace a UAE visa. The requirement is decided by your passport nationality — GCC citizens normally enter without a pre-arranged tourist visa, while expatriate residents usually apply online before travelling.

UAE visa for GCC residents — frequently asked questions
Do GCC residents need a visa for Dubai?
Most do. A GCC residence permit — Iqama, QID, Civil ID, CPR or Oman Resident Card — proves where you live, but the UAE visa requirement follows your passport nationality. GCC citizens are treated differently from GCC residents.
What is the difference between a GCC citizen and a GCC resident?
A GCC citizen holds the passport of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman or the UAE and normally enters the UAE without a pre-arranged tourist visa. A GCC resident holds another passport plus a residence permit, and usually needs a UAE visa.
Can GCC residents get a UAE visa on arrival?
A residence permit alone does not create a visa-on-arrival entitlement. A separate GCC-resident route exists for certain professions and passports, and eligibility is assessed by UAE immigration.
Which residence card do I upload?
Upload the card used in your country of residence: Iqama in Saudi Arabia, QID in Qatar, Civil ID in Kuwait, CPR in Bahrain, and the Resident Card in Oman. Always send a clear front and back copy.
How long does a UAE visa take for GCC residents?
Standard processing is typically 3–5 working days after document review, with express handling of 24–48 hours where available.
How much does a UAE visa cost for GCC residents?
The live fee table on this page shows current all-inclusive AED prices by visa type. Government fees are zero-rated for VAT; 5% VAT applies to the service charge only.
Does my profession affect the application?
It can on the GCC-resident route, where UAE immigration reviews certain profession categories more closely. On the standard tourist route the profession matters far less.
Can I work in the UAE on this visa?
No. Tourist, visit and transit visas do not permit employment in the UAE — that requires a separate work permit.
